Eskendereya, dominant winner of last year’s Wood Memorial (G1) and Fountain of Youth S. (G2), had his first mare confirmed in foal on Tuesday. The mare, Trendy Lady, was the first to be bred from Eskendereya’s inaugural book at stud.
Trendy Lady, a Grade 2-placed daughter of top broodmare sire Unbridled’s Song, is owned by Jack Sims’ McKenzie Bloodstock and is boarded at Taylor Made Farm in Nicholasville, KY.
A son of Giant’s Causeway out of the Seattle Slew mare Aldebaran Light, Eskendereya was an Eclipse Award finalist in 2010 and co-highest rated 3-year-old on dirt by the World Thoroughbred Rankings. He was perfect from four starts on dirt including the aforementioned dominant wins in the Wood Memorial and Fountain of Youth.
Owned by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, Eskendereya is standing his first season at Taylor Made Stallions for a fee of $27,000 payable by Nov. 1, or $30,000 payable when live foal stands and nurses.
