In Step strides away in Belmont Park’s Queen Tutta S.

In Step cruised to an easy 3 1/4-length winner of the $60,000 Queen Tutta S. for 3-year-old fillies on the Sept. 18 card at Belmont Park, giving the daughter of Unbridled’s Song the first stakes win of her career. This was the 15th stakes win of the year for progeny of the Taylor Made stallion, third best among all North American sires.

Getting a perfect ride by Jose Lezcano, In Step tracked in second for about five furlongs, then moved to the front with authority near the top of the stretch and drew off to complete the seven furlongs in 1:21.34 on the firm turf.

Bred in Kentucky by Payson Stud Inc, In Step is owned by Darley, who paid $1 million for the dark bay filly at the 2009 Keeneland September yearling sale. She is a half-sister to Vindication, 2002 2-year-old champion and winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1); 2005 Risen Star S. (G3) winner Scipion; and Blackberry Road, who was graded stakes placed at two and three.

In Step is now 3-0-1 in six starts, earning $108,110. She broke her maiden in her debut on Feb. 20 at Gulfstream Park and also won her most recent start before the Queen Tutta, an allowance race in the slop at Saratoga on Aug. 15.
