Unbridled’s Song juvy is up to debut challenge

Fully Living overcame an adventurous start and race-long duel to break her maiden at first asking Thursday at Belmont Park. The bay daughter of Unbridled’s Song won the five furlong sprint by a half length in :58.01 seconds.

With two of her foes stumbling badly at the break, Fully Living wound up in a lively speed duel with Can’t Explain. Those two sprinted away from the rest, with no more than a head separating them for nearly the entire trip. At the finish, Fully Living held off her opponent, with the third-place finisher some 8 1/2-lengths back.

The winner, bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lister III, was a $425,000 Keeneland September yearling buy last autumn. Her dam, Half A. P., is a half-sister to 2-year-old champion filly Halfbrided. Lyster bought Half A.P. for $825,000 at the Keeneland November sale following her 3-year-old season in 2007.
