Forestry filly gets seconds stakes win in a month

Doe, a 3-year-old filly by Forestry, made it two straight stakes wins with a front-running victory in the $75,000 Lady Charles Town Saturday night at the West Virginia track (VIDEO). She took the $50,000 Beautiful Day S. on the last day of May at Delaware Park.

Doe is one of five stakes winners in 2012 sired by Forestry, topped by his leading earner Shackleford,  the first horse in over 50 years to win both the Metropolitan H. (G1) and Preakness S.  The 4-year-old colt also took the Churchill Downs S. (G2) this spring.

Sent to the front by first-time rider J.D. Acosta, Doe was challenged by Jazzy Idea in mid-stretch, but the winner dug down and held sway to capture the seven-furlong race by one length in 1:24.42.

Doe races for trainer Wayne Cole and owner Carmen Micucucio Jr.and is 17-6-5-2 lifetime, with earnings of $206,550.

Bred in Kentucky by Robert S. Evans, Doe is out of the A.P. Indy mare Spin Control, a stakes winner of $118,912. Her only other foal to start is ten-time winner Rove’s Boy.
