Fiddlers Afleet drew off to a dominating 7 1/4-length victory in Friday’s $85,000 Chasin’ Wimmin’ S. [VIDEO] at Belmont Park, the third stakes victory for the 6-year-old son of Northern Afleet. Fiddlers Afleet is one of eight stakes horses by his sire; the group includes two-time black type winner Where’s Sterling (Memorial Day H. and Mecke S.) and last year’s champion sprinter Amazombie (Grade 2 Potrero Grande S.).
Fiddlers Afleet tracked the early speed, made up some ground on the turn, then went three wide to collar the front-runners in mid-stretch, and pulled away readily in the last furlong. He finished the six furlongs in 1:09.72 on the fast track.
Trained by David Jacobson and ridden by David Cohen, Fiddlers Afleet has a record of 7-6-3 in 25 starts, with earnings of $607,045 for his owner Gary Barber.
The bay Kentucky-bred has wins in the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby and $150,000 Albany S. to his credit. He is out of American Tango, winner of the Magnolia Breeders’ Cup S. and $192,196.
