Old Fashioned yearlings average $112K at Fasig-Tipton July sale

Led by a trio of six-figure sellers, a half-dozen yearlings from the first crop of multiple graded stakes winner Old Fashioned sold for an average of $112,000 at the July 10 Fasig-Tipton yearling sale in Lexington, Ky. The figure is 14 times his advertised stud fee of $8,000 for 2012.

The top seller of the sextet was hip No. 261, the bay colt consigned by Eaton Sales and bought by trainer Jay Em Ess Stable for $250,000. The colt’s dam, Lady Rushmoore, has had one foal to race, a winner at age three. The mare is a half-sister to stakes winners The Lady’s Groom and Marina de Chavon.

Hip No. 92 brought $102,000 from Pike Racing, agent. Consigned by Terraza’s Thoroughbreds, agent, the Kentucky-bred bay colt is out of the stakes-winning mare Vikki’s Honor.

Allied Bloodstock, agent, offered up hip No. 125, which brought a winning bid of $100,000 from Crupi’s New Castle V for the chestnut colt. Out of the Coronado’s Quest mare Teruko, the yearling is a half-brother to Grade 3-place Safe Trip.
