A pair of yearlings by Forestry caught the eyes of buyers at the July Fasig-Tipton sale, with a filly hammering for $200,000 and a colt for $100,000 at the one-day Lexington, Ky. sale on Tuesday.

The impressive sales results, which averaged 12 times Forestry’s 2012 stud fee of $12,500, could be tied to equally stellar results on the racetrack. His progeny recently accounted for four stakes victories in 13 days, led by Shackleford’s huge win in the Grade 1 Metropolitan H.

Hip No. 308 brought a winning bid of $200,000 from Cheyenne Stables LLC. Consigned by Warrendale Sales, agent for Normandy Farm LLC, the Kentucky-bred filly is out of Normandy’s Nell, who is the dam of Culotte, a stakes winner at two. Normandy’s Nell is a half-sister to Famous Digger, winner of the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks.

Bluewater Sales LLC, agent, consigned hip No. 188, which brought a winning bid of $100,000 from trainer Dale Romans, agent for the dark bay or brown colt out of the unraced Smart Strike mare Diamondinthestream. She out of Canada’s champion handicap mare Mountain Angel and hails from the family of champions Ruling Angel, Regal Intention, and Soaring Free.
