The fourth day of the Keeneland sale saw a colt by Unbridled’s Song consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency bring a winning bid of $800,000, the third-highest price of the session. Through four days of the sale, Unbridled’s Song has had 24 yearlings go through the ring for an average sale price of $208,000.
Hip No. 1004, a gray or roan colt like his sire, was purchased by St. Elias, JJ Crupi, agent. The juvenile is out of Miss Macy Sue, who won the Grade 3 Winning Colors S. at Churchill Downs and set a track record in the six furlong, $400,000 Presque Isle Downs Masters S.
Other Unbridled’s Song have attracted plenty of attention from bidders as well. Hip No. 356 went for $410,000 to Jerry Crawford’s Donegal Racing. The Kentucky-bred colt is from the same family as Weekend Surprise, the dam of Horse of the Year and 3-year-old champion A.P. Indy, Preakness S. winner Summer Squall, and multiple graded stakes winner Weekend Surprise.
Hip No. 86, bred similarly to the Donegal purchase, was bought by Reeves Thoroughbred Racing for $375,000. The gray or roan filly’s granddam is Lassie Connection, a half-sister to Weekend Surprise.
