Graydar, a 3-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song, cruised to victory Thursday at Gulfstream Park, coming within one-hundredth of a second of the one mile track record of 1:33.71 (VIDEO).
Trained by Todd Pletcher for Twin Creeks Racing Stables, Graydar is undefeated in two starts at Gulfstream; he broke his maiden over the south Florida oval in December by 2 ½ lengths and earned a 100 Beyer Speed Figure.
Thursday’s performance bettered that mark as the gray or roan colt was a romping 4 1/4-length winner in 1:33.72, just a tick from Commentator’s record and worthy of a 103 Beyer. His overall mark now stands at 2-0-1 from three starts with earnings of $61,560.
Bred in Kentucky by Will Farish, Graydar is out of Sweetest Smile and is a half brother to the graded stakes-placed duo of Union Course and Star of David. Graydar was a $260,000 purchase at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton February 2-year-old sale.
