Light Bringer won her second straight race at Calder, with a professional victory in the $65,000 Chispiski S. Saturday (VIDEO). At the same time, she became the 64th career stakes winner and his first of the young year for Northern Afleet.
Northern Afleet, the sire of six champion finalists in the past eight years, will stand the 2014 season at Taylor Made for $8,000 LFS&N.
Light Bringer was right in the mix from the outset of the one-mile Chispiski. The Vesgo Racing Stable homebred engaged pacesetter Flutterby during the backstretch run. That duo put on a spirited battle until Light Bringer got the best of her stubborn foe in deep stretch, pulling away late to win by a length in 1:41.09 over a sealed track rated “good”.
Trained by William White, Light Bringer is out of Vesgo’s mare Apt to Star, who has also produced Kentucky Cup Juvenile (G3) winner Aegean.
