Northern Afleet’s promising 3-year-old colt Embellishing Bob zipped through six furlongs in 1:09.42 en route to a four-length maiden score March 29 at Fair Grounds (VIDEO).
The bay sophomore earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 98, the best sprint number of the meet and one of the highest of 2014 for any 3-year-old. He controlled the pace of the main track contest throughout, setting fractions of 22.27 and 45.46 before drawing off to a comfortable victory.
Owned and bred by Martin Cherry, Embellishing Bob is out of Kirsche, an unraced half-sister to multiple stakes-winning sprinter Watchfull (the dam of Grade 3 winner Watchmon), juvenile stakes-placed sprinter Rose Bay, stakes-winning sprinter Sweet Sixteen, and juvenile Grade 2-placed sprinter Hermione’s Magic.
Northern Afleet, who stands this year at Taylor Made for $8,000, is the sire of eight stakes horses in 2014.
