Fuzzy Dee Jay collected his first career stakes win in Sunday’s $50,000 Gendelman Memorial S. at Belterra Park to give his sire Northern Afleet his second stakes winner in as many days.
Fuzzy Dee Jay, who races in the colors of his breeders Bruce and Nancy Hudson, has won five of his ten lifetime starts. After dueling through the first five furlongs with Raise the Reward, Fuzzy Dee Jay got a fresh challenge from John Galt with a quarter mile to go. That pair battled for a eighth mile before Fuzzy Dee Jay shook loose to win by 2 1/4-lengths in 1:43.25 for the 1 1/16-miles (VIDEO).
On Saturday, Northern Afleet’s Saintly Joan took the $60,000 Little Silver S., one of nine winners this week for the Taylor Made stallion. Northern Afleet now has sired 71 worldwide stakes winners, 27 stakes horses in 2014 alone, including Grade 1 Manhattan S. runner-up Kaigun.
