Eskendereya colt wires field in Woodbine MSW

Flashaway debuted in a big way Sunday at Woodbine, rolling to a front-running 3 ¾-length maiden special weight victory to give Eskendereya his third winner from his first crop.

After getting some pressure to his inside from Ensign Eli for the first quarter-mile, Flashaway started to pull away on the turn and won under a hand ride by Patrick Husbands. The final time for the six furlongs on the Polytrack was 1:10.80.

Flashaway was bred in Kentucky by Dell Ridge Farm. The dark bay colt is one of six winners out of Call Me Fleet, who is also the dam of Irish and English highweight filly Warrior Queen and multiple stakes winner Tiger’s Rock. Warrior Queen is the dam of multiple Grade 2 winner A. P. Warrior.

Flashaway went through the auction ring to great fanfare at this past March’s Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale, where he brought a winning bid of $500,000 from his trainer Mark Casse on behalf of owner John Oxley.
