The 3-year-old Eskendereya filly Eskenformoney drew off with authority in the stretch to score an emphatic 3 ¾-victory in a one-mile allowance contest Friday at Gulfstream Park.
Tracking on the outside just a length or two off the lead for the long backstretch run, Javier Castellano sat confidently aboard until asking Eskenformoney for her run with about a quarter mile to go. She quickly pulled away from the competition and cruised home an easy winner. The final time for the mile on a fast track was 1:37.19.
After several tries on the turf last year, Eskenformoney has found herself since she switched to the main track three starts ago. Following a narrow loss by a nose at Keeneland, she romped by nearly 10 lengths in her maiden score Dec. 10 at Gulfstream. She has now banked $84,900.
Trained by Todd Pletcher for StarLadies Racing, the dark bay filly will almost certainly find herself in stakes company next time out as she continues on the path to the May 1 Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs.
Eskenformoney was purchased for $225,000 from the Taylor Made Sales consignment at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
Eskendereya stands the 2015 season at Taylor Made for $17,500, with his first crop represented by 3-year-olds. He has already had two 3-year-old allowance winners and a pair of maiden special weight winners this year and finished in the top 15 on the 2014 Freshman Sire list.
