Frosty Friday capped off a stellar weekend for Eskendereya Sunday at Santa Anita Park with an extraordinary victory in a one mile turf maiden special weight event for 3-year-old fillies (VIDEO).
Stalking in mid-pack for the first six panels, then rolling from sixth to first in less than a quarter mile, Frosty Friday continued to pour it on in the stretch, winning by 3 ¼-lengths to become the first “TDN Rising Star” for her sire. The final time for the mile was 1:37.56.
Bred in Florida by Bridlewood Farm, Frosty Friday was a $245,000 purchase at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling sale. She is out of the top producer Frosty Promise, dam of multiple graded stakes winner Icy Atlantic and seven-time stakes winner Wild Promises.
Eskendereya’s first winner of the weekend came Friday on the Gulfstream Park turf when Isabella Sings easily won a first-level allowance race. Saturday at Gulfstream, Easy to Say splashed to a three-length win in a maiden special weight race for 3-year-olds.
Eskendereya now has a Second-Crop Sire list best 15 winners this year. He also ranks second with progeny earnings of $382,301.
