Classic contender War Story will wage his next racing battle in the $500,000 Ohio Derby (G2) on June 20th at Thistledown.
The multiple Graded stakes performer by Northern Afleet has placed three times in four stakes starts this year, including the $750,000 Louisiana Derby (G2) and $400,000 Risen Star S. (G2). He was unplaced in the Kentucky Derby (G1) on May 2nd, after being seriously bothered at the break.
War Story breezed five furlongs in 1:01 2/5 at Churchill Downs on May 26 for trainer Tom Amoss. Clockers caught the chestnut in splits of :12 4/5, :25 2/5, and :37 4/5, while galloping out six furlongs in 1:14.
Owned by Christopher Dunn, Glenn Ellis and Loooch Racing Stable, War Story has compiled a record of 6-2-2-1 and $243,600, with wins at seven furlongs and a mile. The Kentucky-bred has twice been runner-up in Graded stakes at 8 1/2 furlongs, the distance of the Ohio Derby.
