When Sweet Whiskey breaks from the gate in Saturday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1), she’ll be the first starter to represent her sire Old Fashioned, who has been ranked in the top 10 by each of his first three crops to race.
Sweet Whiskey, winner of the Old Hat S. (G3), is the leading earner for her sire. Her record this year includes a very close third in the Inside Information S. (G2) at Gulfstream Park and a blistering Saratoga allowance win. In 2014, she placed in several graded races, including the Acorn (G1) at Belmont.
Owned by Alto Racing and trained by Todd Pletcher, Sweet Whiskey will be ridden by Javier Castellano in Saturday’s 5th race, which runs at 1:25 p.m. ET. Sweet Whiskey drew post 9 of 14.
