Baccelo (Brz) made the grade Saturday at Monmouth, capturing the featured $100,000 Philip Iselin S. (G3) for his third consecutive victory.
Owned and trained by David Jacobson, the 6-year-old bay rolled past graded-stakes-winning pacesetter Mr. Jordan in the stretch and kicked clear to a 1 ½-length win, hitting the wire in 1:48.55 for 1 1/8 miles over a fast local main track.
Baccelo was bred in Brazil by Haras Santa Maria de Araras, and began his racing career in the Southern Hemisphere before moving to America. He’s now earned $316,882.
