Penance took flight inside the final furlong to get her first career win in just her second lifetime start. The 2-year-old Graydar filly is the seventh winner from her sire’s first crop.
After sitting mid-pack most of the race, Penance made up about six lengths in the final eighth mile with a sudden burst of energy to win by a neck in a photo finish (VIDEO).
The winner is conditioned by Pam Arnold for Alfonso Mazzetti. Penance was bred in Kentucky by Terrazas Thoroughbreds and Albert and Joyce Bell.
