Gray Attempt rolls in Oaklawn Park’s Gazebo S.

Gray Attempt dominated his fellow 3-year-olds in Saturday’s $125,000 Gazebo S. at Oaklawn Park, drawing off to a 3 1/4-length win to give the Graydar colt his third stakes win and set him up for a potential shot at the spring classics.

“He did everything we thought he could do today, and a little more,” said winning trainer Jinks Fires. “The [Apr. 13, GI] Arkansas Derby is next. We think he’ll go farther than this. Time will tell.”

Gray Attempt used his natural speed to get out of the gate quick, putting himself a length in front after the first quarter-mile in :22.63. Jockey Jon Court looked confident on the turn and into the stretch as his mount pulled away from the field to win easily in a sharp 1:09.72 for the six furlongs on a fast main track.

Gray Attempt has now won four of six starts and amassed $261,366 for his owner Dwight Pruitt. The winner was bred by Wynnstay LLC, Donna Moore and Jim Richardson.

Graydar was a top-five Second-Crop Sire last year, and is in the top 10 amongst his peers once again this term. He is standing the 2019 season at Taylor Made Stallions for $7,500 live foal.
