Keeneland results continue to flourish for California Chrome

After very good numbers during the first three days of the Keeneland September Yearling sale, California Chrome has his best individual sell for $325,000 on Friday, which marked the first day of Book 2 in the Sept. 9-22 auction.

Taylor Made has consigned most of the 2-time Horse of the Year’s first crop of yearlings to the auction, as was the case with hip No. 881, a colt purchased by Baoma Corp., with Hall of Famer Bob Baffert bidding on their behalf. The colt is the second foal out of Laffina, who has five siblings that are either stakes winners or stakes-placed, led by Mananan McLir, who won the American Derby (G2) and placed in the Hollywood Derby (G1).

California Chrome’s top filly on Friday was hip No. 700, consigned by Taylor Made on behalf of Aaron and Marie Jones and sold to Kanayama Holdings for $260,000. The filly’s dam Warbling won the Inside Information S. (G2) and is a full sister to stakes winner Arianna’s Passion.

California Chrome’s average through the first four days of the sale is $238,000. He has 50 lots remaining to sell in the acution.
