California Chrome filly hammers for $235,000

California Chrome’s fifth yearling from his first crop to bring at least $200,000 sold during the first Sunday session of the Sept. 9-22 Keeneland Yearling sale when hip No. 1526 brought a top bid of $235,000.

Taylor Made Sales Agency consigned the chestnut filly, which went to Ryotokuji Kenji Holdings. The filly is out of the stakes winner Celtic Chant and is from the same family as Florida Derby (G1) winner Vicar, Pan American H. (G2) winner Navesink River and multiple European champion Let’sgoforit.

With one week of the sale complete, California Chrome’s average sale price is $143,667. He has 36 lots remaining in the catalog for week 2.
