Mshawish colt scores front-running debut win at Monmouth Park

Mshawish chalked up his ninth First-Crop winner Saturday at Monmouth Park when Spectatorless went gate-to-wire in a one-mile maiden special weight contest for 2-year-olds.

The gray juvenile took the lead at the outset and controlled the pace from there, opening up by three lengths at the top of the stretch, then holding off a belated charge by Proxy in a valiant effort to win by a neck.

Spectatorless is owned by River Card Stable and was bred in Kentucky by Carolyn Vogel. The gray/roan colt’s dam Pooh Corner has accounted for four winners, including the Grade 2-placed filly Just a Smidge.

Mshawish’s nine winners rank among the top-10 on the First-Crop sire list. His runners have performed extremely well over the last two months, with several getting their victories when stretched out to two turns. Taylor Made recently announced that multiple Grade 1 winner will stand the 2021 season for $7,500 S&N.
