Sainthood gets the nod in Fair Grounds MdSpWt

With Sainthood’s gallant maiden special weight win Saturday afternoon at Fair Grounds, Mshawish now has winners in three different countries in the month of February alone.

After getting wins in both France and England over the past ten days, Sainthood gave his sire his latest winner with a front-running score going 1 1/16-miles on the main track.

The 3-year-old Kentucky-bred broke on top and had a one-length lead for the first half-mile. Masquerade, who applied the early pressure, began to fade after five furlongs, but Dolder Grand took up the chase in the stretch. Despite a stiff challenge, Sainthood would not relent and won by a nose in 1:45.26 on a fast track.

The winner was bred by Edward Taylor and Springland Farm and is the second foal out of the stakes-placed Lemon Hero. The dark bay colt originally sold for $100,000 at the 2019 Keeneland January sale and is owned by WinStar Farm and CHC Inc.
