With a pair of six-figure juveniles and an average sale price of $190,000, Midnight Storm was one of the top three First-Crop sires at the OBS 2-year-olds in Training sale held March 16-17.
Leading the way for the Taylor Made stallion was hip No. 344, which sold on Wednesday for $240,000 to D. J. Stable, LLC, with Linda Rice signing the winning ticket. Consigned by Robert Brewer, the filly had worked a bullet :09 4/5-seconds during last weekend’s Under Tack Show.
“A beautiful filly. She was very impressive in her breeze and what Iiked most was the length of her stride. We are excited about this one,” said Rice after the buy.
The filly was bred in Kentucky by Burleson Farm and McKenzie Bloodstock and originally sold for $27,000 at the Fasig-Tipton September Showcase sale last year.
On Tuesday, hip No. 232, a colt consigned by Julie Davis, sold for $140,000 to Marylou Whitney Stables LLC off a 10 seconds-flat breeze. Out of the Flatter mare Soft Wind, the bay juvenile is from the same family as the top-class mare Nannerl.
