Midnight Storm was represented by his first winner Saturday at Belterra Park when Parfait scored a debut victory in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-old fillies.
The filly, a Winblaze LLC homebred, won by three-quarters of a length with a late surge between foes. She is trained by Tim Hamm and is the first foal out of Miss Emma Maria, whose dam Deja Blu is a half-sister to Hollywood Oaks (G2) winner Santa Catarina.
Midnight Storm, who was a Grade 1 winner on both turf and dirt, won graded stakes every year from ages three through six, defeating top-class runners such as Tourist, Bal a Bali, Miss Temple City and Accelerate. His 2-year-olds have been very popular during this year’s auction season, ranking in the top 10 for First-Crop sires an average of $129,650 from 20 lots sold.
Midnight Storm’s 2021 stud fee is $7,500 S&N.
