Belleharbour Music won a thrilling renewal of the Prix Daphnis (G3) Saturday at Deauville Racecourse in France to become Mshawish’s newest graded stakes winner (WATCH RACE).
The 3-year-old colt sat in midpack past the halfway point of the 1,600 meter turf race before launching his bid coming into the stretch. Though he was three-wide all the way around the turn, he was nearly on even terms with the pacesetters in midstretch, then fought gallantly to the wire to win by a head over Partenit (FR).
The dark bay is owned by Haras du Logis Saint Germain and was bred in Kentucky by Al Shaqab Racing. Belleharbour Music is the first foal out of the Blame mare Al Khazaaliya, who is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Onlyforyou and stakes winner Dress the Part.
Belleharbour Music has won three of six lifetime starts.
Mshawish, who stood the 2021 season for $7,500, has six stakes horses to date this year, among the top 10 on the Second-Crop sire list.
