Midnight Storm had the top-priced lot during Tuesday’s OBS October Selected Yearlings sale when hip No. 67 hammered for $170,000.
The striking dark bay was consigned by Lisa McGreevy’s Abbie Road Farm and purchased by Elusive Thoroughbreds. Part of Midnight Storm’s second crop, the colt was bred by Mary Katherine Haire. In his first time through the ring, the colt sold for $27,000 at last year’s Keeneland November sale.
The colt is out of the stakes winner Sterling Madame, whose lone foal to race has earned more than $350,000.
Midnight Storm’s first crop of runners have tallied eight wins to date. Like their sire, who excelled at two turns on both turf and dirt, his have shown their affinity for longer distance, with four individuals winning at seven furlongs or longer.
