Fourteen days after he won the July 9 Iowa Derby, Not This Time’s 3-year-old colt Ain’t Life Grand was the easiest of winners in the $89,000 Iowa Stallion S. at Prairie Meadows, drawing off in the stretch to win by seven lengths under a hand ride (WATCH RACE).
Ain’t Life Grand was allowed to settle in the early stages of Saturday’s 1 mile and 70-yard contest. He began to edge closer to the lead on the final turn while in the three path, then overpowered the field in the stretch when set down for the drive.
Owned by his breeder RPM Thoroughbreds, Ain’t Life Grand has won five of his eight starts, with four of the victories coming in stakes, and earned $399,883. Ain’t Life Grand’s dam Cat d’Oro was bred back to Not This Time for 2023.
After leading the Second-Crop Sire list last year, Not This Time tops the 2022 Third-Crop list with eight stakes winners, five graded winners, and $7.4 million in progeny earnings.
