Cogburn rallied strongly to defeat a competitive field in the $100,000 Chamberlain Bridge Stakes at Lone Star Park on Memorial Day, and Game Time scored a front-running victory in the $75,000 Alcatraz Stakes at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday, May 28, to become Not This Time’s newest stakes winners.

Cogburn, well rated in the middle of the field early in the five-furlong turf test, swung four-wide on the turn and closed furiously through the lane to get up in time, covering the distance in a fast :55.49. Owned by Clark Brewster, and William and Corinne Heiligbrodt and trained by Steve Asmussen, Cogburn is now a winner in four of nine starts and has banked $338,060.

Bred in Kentucky by Bellary Bloodstock, Cogburn, who is out of the Saintly Look mare In a Jif, was acquired by Brewster for $150,000 out of the Pick View consignment at the 2021 OBS Spring Sale. In addition to his stakes win, Cogburn finished second to Lightening Larry in last year’s Chick Lang Stakes (G2) at Pimlico.

Game Time, campaigned by Hronis Racing and trained by John Sadler, led from start to finish in the Alcatraz Stakes. Ridden by Armando Ayuso, Game Time recorded comfortable fractions in the one-mile turf test, maintained a clear advantage through the far turn and widened to the wire. He defeated Cousin Richie by two lengths in the end, stopping the clock in 1:36.41.

Bred in Kentucky by Dermot Joyce, Game Time, who is produced from the Broken Vow mare Confession, was a $290,000 graduate of the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
