Not This Time colt ultra-impressive in debut, named TDN ‘Rising Star’

Goal Oriented overcame a tardy start to win his April 6 debut at Santa Anita Park by a widening 3 ½-lengths and become the latest TDN ‘Rising Star’ for Not This Time.

The 3-year-old colt, trained by Bob Baffert, is Not This Time’s third Rising Star. Not This Time is having another stellar year in 2025, already accounting for seven stakes winners, including four graded winners, led by Kentucky Derby (G1) contender Final Gambit, the recent winner of the Jeff Ruby S. (G3).

Goal Oriented took a bit of time to get into stride in Sunday’s six-furlong contest, but once he settled into a good rhythm, he swiftly went by horses and found himself within two lengths of the lead turning for home. Continuing his big move, he blew past the frontrunners and won going away in 1:10.01 on a fast track.

Goal Oriented is owned by the partnership of SF Racing LLC, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables LLC, Stonestreet Stables LLC, Dianne Bashor, Determined Stables, Robert Masterson, Tom Ryan, Waves Edge Capital LLC and Catherine Donovan, who purchased the colt for $425,000 at the 2023 Keeneland September sale.

The dark bay was bred in Kentucky by  Runnymede Farm LLC & CWC Investment 2, LLC and is out of multiple graded stakes winner Bizzy Caroline, who is a half-sister to turf champion Lady Eli.
