Flash Wear kicked away in the final furlong of a one-mile maiden special weight affair Oct. 27 at Churchill Downs to score by a widening four-lengths over Carolina Smokeshow.
The 2-year-old daughter of Instilled Regard got a good stalking trip for the first six furlongs, then swung three-wide coming into the stretch. She was full of run down the lane and won comfortably in 1:37.93 over a fast main track.
The bay filly is owned by Michael and Linda Mazoch and was bred in Kentucky by Sebastian Murat and Nicky Drion Thoroughbreds. Flash Wear is half-sister to Oceanside S. winner Flashiest, while her dam Nothing to Wear is a half-sister to multiple graded winner Wishing Gate.
Instilled Regard, who was a graded stakes winner on both dirt and turf, is the sire of this year’s Bourbon S. (G2) winner Minaret Station, who is pre-entered in the Nov. 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).
