Not This Time tallied his third stakes winner of February on Saturday at Laurel Park when It’s Sizzling Time rallied up the inside fence to win the $100,000 John B. Campbell S. by a nose over Double Crown.
The 6-year-old dark bay, who was making his first appearance since a Dec. 31 allowance win over the same surface, sat well off the early pace set by even-money favorite Bob Marco, who had a five-length lead midway through the race. It’s Sizzling Time steadily cut into his deficit on the turn, and with others drifting out into the middle of the track, came up the inside to go head-to-head with Double Crown in the final sixteenth. It’s Sizzling Time won the head bob for the narrow victory.
The veteran runner is now an even 7-7-7 in 40 starts and has earned $307,766 for Chuckie Inc. and Mona Bowley. He was bred by James Terdik and is out of Coolenoughtosizzle, who has a trio of stakes-winning siblings.
