Wednesday’s session of the OBS 2-year-olds in Training sale ended on a spectacular note when a filly from the first crop of Not This Time brought a winning bid of $1.35 million late in the day.
The filly is the only lot to bring seven figures through the first two days of the sale, which runs June 9-12.
Consigned by Jimbo and Torie Gladwell’s Top Line Sales, hip No. 1254 went to Gary Young, agent, after a spirited bidding war.
“Obviously with her work time and everything else, she was unbelievable and she looked good in the barn,” Young said. “My client, I had him on the phone, and originally we were going to $1 million and he said, ‘Keep going, keep going.’ There were a couple of times that I thought we were on our last bid, but he bid again. I liked her a lot. The sire showed a lot of nice horses, but this one stood out.”
The filly garnered plenty of attention during last week’s Under Tack show when she breezed a quarter-mile in :20 1/5 seconds.
Bred in Kentucky by International Equities, the bay filly is out of Sheza Smoke Show, the winner of the Senorita S. (G3).
In addition to his stellar sales results, Not This Time has already produced two maiden special weight winners from his first three starters and is atop the 2020 First-Crop Sire list.
